How to Gatekeep a Tour with Access Codes
November 18th, 2025
What are access codes?
Access codes are like passwords. They are a series of letters, numbers, and/or special characters that allow access to online content, like your Tourient tours.
Once a code is successfully entered, it will not need to be entered again.
How to add tour access codes in Tourient
Open the tour page that you want to add gatekeeping to
In the sidebar on the right side, look for Tour Access.
You may see a Hide Tour toggle. This will hide the tour from search engines and the home page. It can be enabled together with Gatekeeping, or separately.
Click the toggle to Gatekeep Tour. Two sub-items appear: access codes and access code help text
Next, either add your own access codes or generate them with our linked tool.
Generate Tour Codes
The Generate Tour Code tool lets you choose from a password-style access code or a passphrase-style. You can also adjust the length, and add numbers or symbols to password-style codes.
You can also find this tool in the Tools dropdown menu at the top of the screen.
Then enter Access Code Help Text. This appears below the form to help visitors if their code doesn't work, or they don't have a code.
Click Save and Publish (or Ctrl/Cmd + Enter) to save the tour
How to share access codes
Access codes can be shared via emails, text messages (with consent), or onsite signage or receipts. They can be used to facilitate selling tours via any point of sale (POS) system your organization already uses.
