About Requests
Each time you submit a request for text-to-speech narration, it is deducted from your three free text-to-speech requests each year.
What counts as a request?
A request is a full tour’s worth of audio in a single language.
For instance, if you have three tours, and they’re all available just in English, each tour counts as a request.
Or, if you have one tour, and it’s available in three different languages, each of those languages counts as a request.
What if I change all of my content after making a request?
You will need to make another request.
What if I run out of free requests?
Beyond your five free requests, it’s $65 per request.
Half of that cost is the fee we pay to convert your text into speech, and the other half covers the labor of transforming your text into a format that is machine-readable.
How to Request Text-to-Speech (TTS) Audio
To request text-to-speech (TTS) audio narration for a tour, follow these steps:
Log in to CMS
If you are not logged in to the CMS for your site, do that at yoursubdomain.tourient.app/cms. If you are logged in, skip to step 2.
In the sidebar, click on Tours. Open the start page for the tour you want to make a request for.
On the right side of the screen, click Visit URL. The public-facing page will open.
If you're logged in, you can also just view the public-facing site, and navigate to the tour start page.
Open Action Menu
In the bottom right of the page, you’ll see a button that has the Tourient logo icon. Click it, and the Action Menu will open.
In the menu, click on TTS Request Form. The form will open.
Fill Out The Form
At the top of the form, you will see the name of the tour and the number of stops. Confirm that information is correct.
First, choose which languages you want to generate audio for. Note that each language counts as a separate request against your 3 free requests.
Choose an accent for the voice. Current options include British and American.
Then, choose a voice. Previews for voices are further up this page.
At the bottom of the form, you’ll see how many TTS requests you have remaining until your subscription renewal date.
Click Submit.
If you’ve run out of requests, you will see a payment field to pay for additional requests as needed at $65 each.
Otherwise, you will see a message that we’ve received your request, and an estimated completion time.
Wait for completion
When the process is complete, your account admin will receive an email confirmation. The audio will also be added to your tour stops auto-magically.
